Medina County Together's first Social event held on Saturday, May 20th at the Medina Eagles Club was a success! We ended up with a ton of food and drink and a great DJ - thank you so much Summer Costanzo for providing the DJ!
Although the weekend we picked meant the Social competed with graduations, there was a good turn out with lots of mingling and conversation. Judge Mary Kovack, former Prosecutor Dean Holman and Medina Municipal Judge candidate J.R. Russell were among the attendees, providing an opportunity for many discussions regarding the county.
The Silent Auction went great and the donated items were all well worth the money spent.
MCT Vice-Chair Kathy Kinstler and Treasurer Carol Brenstuhl pulled the Social together and did a fabulous job. They both deserve our thanks and a round of applause!

We had a great meeting on the evening of April 10th with 16 people in attendance (more than double our last turn-out!). As we are still in the very early stages of “finding our way”, our discussion mostly centered around the various ways we can help throughout Medina County. Needs / projects that were mentioned included cleaning the parks, adopting a highway, and knitting warm weather hats for children. Groups that we may investigate further include Birthcare, Community Action, Children’s House, and Project Homes. We also spent some time talking about the original idea which-kick started out group, and that is partnering with the local schools to help fulfill needs for low-income students.
We’ve decided that we’ll be blanketing the community to gather as much information as possible about local needs. From there, we’ll be compiling a small database of organizations, key contacts, and the direct ways that each can be helped. This resource will be available to MCT members, as well as any else who may be interested in making a difference (e.g., local students who are required to participate in community service projects).
In order to take our engagement to the next level, Sara Scott and I are going to prepare a formal document that will describe who we are and the information that we are seeking. This will help make the process more scalable (because any one can use it to gather info), and the scripted introduction may possibly help some of our volunteers become more comfortable with the process.
The group will meet again at 6:30 pm on May 15, at Panera Bread on Court St. All who are interested in helping out are welcome to attend.
